Hi all;
Our WW Board is fortunate to receive interesting comments and
suggestions from many sources and I am pleased to pass on one such
informed and reassuring message.
Especially considering the recent fiasco near Miami.
Check into the contribution by WW owner, Lou Nuspl B7U3, with our thanks.

They did examine the steel supports for the buildings themselves (found very few rust issues there as I recall , but some) . The big rust issue was the steel support under the balconies . Each balcony was examined by wire camera.
Separate work on each was determined by what was found on each . A thorough tedious job that took a long time . Each step was checked by the engineer rep as well as the Board representatives.
I recall in some cases we
were not totally satisfied with the grinding and had more
done. But minor stuff only . Overall they were very picky and
tedious . Took a long time and I believe well done .
Time and the weather and air conditions will show if it will last another 50 years .
I’m glad we have the kind of low rise complex we do have . Also that we have a through structural report done not that long ago that should help the nervous owners.
I’m expecting some owners are very concerned because of this building collapse .
Also the newer ones will not know or appreciate what was done at WW ten years ago .
If you do not have that report available for review by an owner on the WW website you might want to do that soon .
As you likely have heard Florida is looking at making some changes to the Condo regulations because of this .
I’m guessing it will include the requirement to do a structural review at time periods (like maybe every 10 years ) to catch problems like this early on before they risk lives .
I’m shocked to recently hear their Board likely knew of the rusting rebar in the basement and outside walls .
Lou
